Earth Wisdom

Earth wisdom is based on the green spirituality of our ancestors and works with the solar cycles and energies.

In nature, we can see how the knowledge and wisdom of green spirituality is mirrored in the cycles of the seasons and in the way that a tree lives this during the Wheel of the Year. .

To discover green spirituality, you could look at the trees in your own area and translate the fysical, emotional and spiritual changes they go through during the year, through reflection, to your own life.

You can consciously create a place in your life to experience these energies, so that the effectiveness will grow.

We use the wheel of the year to mobilise and use the powers and/or energies through ritual and ceremonies for many goals like: healing, fertility, growth, letting go, showing gratitude for what we have.  Every aspect of the wheel of the year flows seamlessly into the next cycle, without effort. Even then, there are times, like during the waxing moon, that the energies of a specific tide are at their most powerful and potent.

The Celtic people had names for these times and celebrated them with a festival. These Celtic festivals are set on certain dates nowadays, but if you tune in to the earth, you can feel when the time is right.

There ar 8 Celtic festivals in a year. The solar solstices and equinoxes are the times at which the energies of the earth and her cycles have a break.  The sun is either on his highest (summer solstice) or lowest (winter solstice), or the day and night are of the same length (spring equinox and autumn equinox). The other four festivals (Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas/Lughnassadh and Samhain) are also importand marks on the wheel of the year. These are the fire festivals and the opposite corners of the wheel.

Green spirituality observes what happens in and around us and intuitively establishes the peak of the cycle. For this, we need to be awake and alert by looking at what happens outside and bring our inner in tune with these energies so that we can live in harmony with nature. By doing this we can truly connect to the powers and cycles of the earth, and only then can we understand what this means to ourselves and for all other lifeforms. What follows next is a personal journey and not a ready-to-digest menu.

By following the wheel of the year, we can plan, grow, witness, mark and celebrate changes - ours as wel as nature's.

Are you interested enough to learn more about this? We teach Earth Wisdom workshops, that can help you become more conscious of your own nature by celebrating the Celtic Festivals.
