Yule & Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is the period when the Sun seems to rise and set in exactly the same spot. This "pause" in the travels of the Sun marks the point when the Sun has arrived at the most Northern point and will start the journey back to the most Southern point. From this moment the Sun will again gain power and our days will lengthen. The astrological event usually takes place somewhere between December 20th and 30th, depending on the exact movement of the Sun. Traditionally, the Winter Solstice is still celebrated on the 21st of December and it also marks the start of the Yule festival.
