Honouring the Great Abundant Life-Giving Mother

In this year of Planetary Change we are honouring our Fertile and Abundant Life-giving Mother Goddess, who gives us Everything. We will be exploring our fertility and creativity, our Mothering of all forms of life from our own babies to the children of others, to Mothering animals, the land, our projects and artworks, our communities, cultures and spirituality. We will be creative, making our version of the earliest Ceremonial Garments - woomon making a Fertility Apron and men a Fertility Belt. We will make Sacred Bread for the Goddess. We will dream the NEW alive within the Hera, sounded as in Hur-a (Hurrah!), the creative space within the body.

At Lammas, the festival of Hlafmass, of the Bread, we celebrate the Great Mother as Ker the Grain Mother - Mother of Kernel and Kernababy: Banbha - Mother of Niall of the Nine Hostages; Keridwen - Mother of Creirwy and Afaggdu; Danu - Mother of the Tuatha de Danaan; Brigit - Mother of Maiden Bride; Artha the Great She Bear - Mother of Arth-Vawr(Arthur); Rhiannon of the Birds - Mother of Pryderi; Domnu of the Oceans - Mother of the Fomoire, the Peoples of the Sea; and Britannia, Brigit-Ana - Mother of the land & peoples of the whole of Brigit’s Isles.

On arrival at the Conference participants join one of Ten Cornucopiae for nine directions and one for Young People; for ceremonial participation and mutual support throughout the Conference. If you are a woomon please bring some large-holed beads that can be threaded onto string for your Fertility Apron. If you are a man please bring a buckle & ornaments to adorn a Fertility Belt.

In 2012 Conference colours are those of the golden grain ripening in the fields, of honey from Her beehives - gold, yellow, cream, honey, amber, a sprinkling of red poppy. You may like to dress in these colours as you participate in ceremonies, workshops and walk the land. Please bring your voices, drums, rattles and other instruments to join in making music at various times during the Conference and on Sunday’s Goddess Procession.

The Goddess Conference is a wonderful opportunity to learn about different aspects of the Goddess, to renew your commitment to Her, to fully experience Her loving, healing nature, to make your pilgrimage to the Great Mother within Avalon’s sacred landscape, to enjoy yourself in the company of like-minded Goddess-loving people, and to meet old friends and new.
